Clear cell adenocarcinoma (CCA) seen in daughters of women receiving DES therapy during pregnancy. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is associated with HPV infection. Symptoms; CCA, insidious onset with vaginal bleeding. SCC, irregular spotting, vaginal discharge. Treatment; surgery and radiation, careful monitoring of high risk patients.
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Common cause include; Chlamydia trachomatis (subacute), Neisseria gonorrhoea (acute), Cardnerella vaginalis and Trichomanas vaginalis. Usually occurs in young, nulliparous, sexually active women with multiple partners. Symptoms; high fever, lower abdominal pain, cervical motion tenderness, purulent cervical discharge, Treatment; antibiotics effective against causative organism.
