A genetic condition that typically causes some level of learning disability and a characteristic range of physical features. Also congenital heart defects. They have an increased chance of developing acute leukemias, increased susceptibility to infections and degenerative changes in the brain similar to Alzheimer disease. Treatment for duodenal atresia and congenital heart defects
Edwards and Patau Syndromes
A genetic condition which results in; severe mental retardation, congenital heart and renal defects, and specific facial features. Majority die within 1 year.
Prader-Willi and Angelman Syndrome
A genetic condition leading to mental retardation, hypogonadism, obesity. Treatment is life-long supervision.
